Youth Contest - https://arba.net/youth-contests/
Youth activities and contests provide a variety of enrichment activities that encourage youth participants to develop knowledge and skill regarding rabbit husbandry; responsibility, teamwork, and leadership. These skills enable youth members to thrive and succeed throughout their lives – within and outside of the hobby. All youths are invited to join the youth contests; Achievement Contest, Management Contest, Breed I.D., Royalty Contest and Showmanship competition.
Achievement - The purpose of the Achievement Contest is to acknowledge outstanding achievement and leadership by youth members in the rabbit and/or cavy industry, as measured by activities in organizations and associations, performance on the show table, and achievements in breeding and raising animals.
Management - The purpose of the Management Contest is to acknowledge the excellence of management style by youth members in the areas of housing and equipment, feeding and animal care, disease control, record keeping, breeding and genetics for the care and production of rabbits and/or cavies.
Breed I.D. - There are 50+ different recognized varieties of rabbits in the ARBA Standard of Perfection. The purpose of Breed Identification is to educate, challenge, & hone the youth’s knowledge for future preparation into the world. Today’s youths are tomorrow’s registrars & judges!
Royalty - The purpose of the Royalty Contest is to acknowledge excellence among youth members and to allow these members to demonstrate a working knowledge of the rabbit and cavy industry. To explore critical thinking skills, demonstrate personal initiative and provide problem-solving, decision-making and goal-setting activities for these youth members.
Showmanship - Showmanship competition provides youth with a meaningful experience where they can practice and improve their handling and knowledge skills. Showmanship gives each youth the opportunity to present themselves and their rabbit to the best of their ability. This is exemplified by working as a team with his or her rabbit, so the rabbit is posed properly for its breed, alert, and under control, while at the same time the youth appears confident and in control.
